Michaelann Keckler RDH, PHDHP
Michaelann earned her Dental Hygiene degree in 2007 at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC and obtained licensure as a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner in 2011. Throughout her career as a dental hygienist, Michaelann learned how to identify orofacial myofunctional disorders and the symptoms from myofunctional disorders in her patients. She knew there had to be a way to help her patients, so she began her research. This is when she was first introduced to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
Michaelann has since enhanced her career by becoming an air-way focused dental hygienist, completing advanced courses with the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT), MyoMentor with Sarah K. Hornsby, and The Breathe Institute. This continuous education led Michaelann to recognize her own daughter’s orofacial myofunctional disorders and consider the potential presence of sleep apnea. Having directly witnessed the profound effects of sleep apnea on a child, Michaelann understands the crucial role that early detection and treatment of underlying causes play in enhancing quality of life. Michaelann is now the owner and lead Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist at Orofacial Physique, which she founded in 2022. Her passion is knowing that she can help children and adults eat, sleep, and breathe properly.
