Michaelann Keckler RDH, PHDHP
I earned my Dental Hygiene degree in 2007 at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC and obtained licensure as a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner in 2011. Throughout my career as a dental hygienist, I have learned how to identify orofacial myofunctional disorders and the symptoms from myofunctional disorders in my patients. I knew there had to be a way to help my patients, so I began my research. This is when I was first introduced to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
I have since enhanced my career by becoming an air-way focused dental hygienist, completing advanced courses with the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT), MyoMentor with Sarah K. Hornsby, and The Breathe Institute. This continuous education led me to recognize my own daughter’s orofacial myofunctional disorders and consider the potential presence of sleep apnea. Having directly witnessed the profound effects of sleep apnea on a child, I understand the crucial role that early detection and treatment of underlying causes play in enhancing quality of life. I am now the owner and lead Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist at Orofacial Physique, which I founded in 2022. My passion is knowing that I can help children and adults eat, sleep, and breathe properly.
